Rowan named for new pelleting feed mill
FORT DODGE (NEW Co-op) – NEW Cooperative Inc., in Fort Dodge, announced Dec. 8 the construction of a new pelleting feed mill in Rowan.
Construction of the new feed mill is expected to begin this month.
The project will involve construction of a 180-foot mill building that will house two 40-ton-per-hour pellet systems, with 2,000 tons of load-out space, and 2,200 tons of ingredient storage space.
Once operational, the mill will have a total production capacity of 400,000 tons of pelleted feed per year.
The pelleting feed mill is expected to add up to 14 new employees.
The feed mill will be built next to our Rowan grain facility on Iowa Highway 3. The Rowan location was chosen as the site for the new mill due to access to utilities, availability of land, and NEW Co-op’s existing grain assets at the facility.
“The project makes sense in this area, as it will create a new market for our members’ grain,” said Kent Nolting, NEW Cooperative feed manager, “as well as provide us a way to better serve area livestock producers.”
NEW Cooperative expects the Rowan feed mill to be completed by the summer 2018.
