By Staff | Jan 1, 2017

ALGONA – Women Marketing Grain, a four-week course designed to help farm women learn market strategies and stay on track for long-term market success, is being offered by Kossuth County Extension.

Online registration is available at www.aep.iastate.edu/womeninag or at the Kossuth County Extension office, 1121-B U.S. Highway 18 East, Algona.

The course begins at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 10, 2017 and will continue Jan. 24, Feb. 7, and Feb. 21.

Farm women participating in Women Marketing Grain become better business partners and owners by learning to manage and organize critical information for their own farms, while establishing networks with other farm women and agriculture business professionals.

According to Kelvin Leibold, an ISU Extension farm specialist, participants will know more about identifying crop prices and marketing costs, understanding price movements and utilizing a variety of crop marketing tools.

“Our goal is to provide a program that is of great interest and value,” Leibold said. “Each session includes discussions and hands-on activities.”

Each of the four sessions begins at 6:30 p.m. with a light meal to be served at 6 p.m.

Due to the interactions of the program only 25 participants will be accepted.

“Women Marketing Grain empowers women by offering a valuable set of business-based workshops.

The program helps participants learn market strategies and how to stay on track for long-term marketing success,”said Madeline Schultz, an ISU Extension Women in Agriculture program manager.
