By Staff | Apr 8, 2017

RENWICK/CORWITH – To see firsthand how oxbow wetland restorations improve water quality, floodwater storage, and wildlife habitat, and how cover crops improve soil health and water quality,

The Nature Center has scheduled the Boone River Watershed field day at 9 a.m. Monday.

The day will include a tour of a recently restored oxbow wetland, including a look at the fish that reside there.

Participants will move to the Chuck Legler farm to hear about assistance available for conservation practices, monitoring results, a farmer’s perspective, and proper termination considerations.

A rainfall simulator demonstration, tour of cover crop fields, and a chance to talk with cover crop experts will follow lunch.

The schedule includes 9 a.m. to 10 a.m: Humboldt County Conservation oxbow wetland restoration, 4 miles north of Renwick, on Xenia Avenue, north of 130th Street (C20).

  • 10 a.m. to noon: Chuck Legler’s farm, 2407 100th St., Corwith.

RSVP is requested by calling Jordan Kolarik at (515) 332-3337.
