FORT?DODGE (ISU E) – Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Webster County is offering a series of five classes including Market Outlook and Using Grain Options, Grain Contracts and Budgets, Land Info and Retirement Planning, My Grain Marketing Plan and Technology on the Farm. The classes will be held on Thursdays beginning Jan. 10, and continuing Jan. 24, Feb. 7, Feb. 21 and Mar. 7. The classes will be held in the Webster County Extension and Outreach Office. The cost of the series is $50 and includes light meals.
“We have a number of women working in the ag industry living in and around Webster County. To meet the educational needs of these women, we’re offering this series of classes focusing on a variety of topics,” said Linda Cline, Webster County Extension and Outreach program coordinator. “We have several experts who will provide valuable information, with the added benefit of being based locally so the women taking the classes will be able to add these experts to their networks,” Cline added.
The five classes will discuss grain marketing and what to look for in the markets, grain contracts and crop budgeting, land information including the web soil survey, and a look at satellite maps and Google Earth, and what goes into writing a grain marketing plan. Topics also include planning for retirement and exploring how to retire. The last class in the series will examine some of the technologies used on the farm, including gadgets, phone apps and drones.
