Farm News reaches a milestone

By Staff | Mar 15, 2019

Agriculture is at the heart of Iowa’s economy. For nearly a quarter century, Farm News has had a straightforward mission. Each Friday, this newspaper brings to its readers the latest information and opinion about a wide range of topics pertinent to farmers, agricultural businesses and anyone who lives or does business in rural America.

Our team of news professionals is joining with readers and advertisers to celebrate the beginning of this newspaper’s 25th year. Farm News reports the latest developments and trends in agriculture. This newspaper circulates in 33 of the Hawkeye State’s 99 counties. Readership each week is estimated to be more than 21,000. That means that for many folks in about one-third of Iowa Farm News has become a trusted source of news about a rapidly changing farm world. That so many Iowans regularly check out the latest issue of Farm News is humbling. We take the challenge of providing timely, accurate and useful information very seriously and are deeply committed to staying faithful to the highest standards of journalism. That has been our approach since Farm News was launched and will remain so in the years ahead.

Helping readers understand how farm life in Iowa is evolving is part of the game plan at Farm News. In every issue, we provide an array of commentary and helpful information from experts and respected analysts. In doing so we hope to clarify the options available to those who make a living in rural venues as they respond to changes in agriculture. Each year we also publish an array of special sections that each provide more in-depth coverage of a particular topic.

Our publication also provides detailed coverage of the various trade shows, conventions and other gatherings throughout Iowa that bring Iowans together to explore what’s new and exciting in farm country. Beyond that, we are proud to be a co-sponsor of the annual Farm News Ag Show held in Fort Dodge. That event has proved immensely popular with people from not only the local region but all across Iowa.

Iowa has developed a diverse economy. Agriculture is no longer as dominant as once was the case. The rich land with which we are blessed, however, makes it certain that farming and its related industries will forever be a major focus in this state. At Farm News we are delighted to provide specialized coverage about agriculture. It remains absolutely crucial to the well-being of the state we call home.
