Farm News celebrates 25 years

By Staff | Apr 29, 2020

For the past quarter of a century, anytime someone wanted reliable information about agriculture in northern Iowa, they turned to the pages of Farm News.

The newspaper, which has become a staple of farm life in the region, is now celebrating 25 years of bringing facts, figures and features to readers. That’s a legacy that Farm News will build on long into the future, with a staff dedicated to being the trusted source that readers depend upon.

Farm News evolved from a monthly farm publication produced by The Messenger. The first edition was published on Feb. 3, 1995.

Since that first edition, Farm News has developed into a well known and popular news and advertising publication covering 33 counties in north central and northwest Iowa.

About 1,300 editions have been published since that first one rolled off the presses.

The growth of the renewable fuels industry, the transformation of livestock production and previously unheard of innovations like driverless tractors have been chronicled in the pages of Farm News since its inception.

To commemorate this silver anniversary, a special magazine is included in this edition of the newspaper that will take you back in time with highlights from issues of Farm News from the last 25 years.

But as we mark this historic moment in our history, we at Farm News are hard at work planning ways to better serve our readers for decades to come.
