To the editor:
A letter in the May 9 issue of Farm News had to do with recipes published in an earlier issue. The writer was very unhappy about some of the ingredients because they were listed as organic and suggested FN should not print it. Isn’t being able to substitute ingredients one of the things that sometimes makes cooking fun and interesting? You can even ignore a recipe altogether. It never occurred to me that another option is working myself into a frenzy and calling people names because they like something I don’t and make choices different from mine.
Some people choose organic because they prefer not to ingest food produced with pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers. What happened to the old business adage that the customer is always right? Isn’t it wise to produce something people want and are willing to pay a premium for?
