EPA Region 7 awards $400,000 to City of Denison for Brownfields grant
DENISON — On Sept. 30, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 7 presented a $400,000 novelty big check to the city of Denison for its Brownfields grant award.
Denison was selected for community-wide assessment work and the development of reuse plans for sites including the Denison Municipal Utility Power Plant and Avenue C sites. This selected grant also supports the creation of a project webpage and Spanish translation services for outreach activities.
This grant is supported by President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which provides a total of $1.5 billion to advance environmental justice, spur economic revitalization, and create jobs by cleaning up contaminated, polluted, or hazardous brownfield properties.
