Event offers chance to meet experts, see vendors

An upcoming event will give people a chance to hear from experts in the field of agriculture, get some insight on the latest developments in the commodities markets and check out the offerings of various ag businesses.

And don’t forget the food, which will include a free pancake breakfast.

What kind of event will offer all that? It’s called CJ Bio America presents the 20th annual Farm News Ag Show.

The show hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 16 and 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 17.

It will be held at the Webster County Fairgrounds south of Fort Dodge on Old Highway 169.

The lineup of featured speakers includes:

• Chad Hart, professor of economics at Iowa State University in Ames

• Dennis Todey, director of the United States Department of Agriculture Midwest Climate HUB

• Kelvin Leibold, farm and ag business management specialist for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach

• Mark Licht, associate professor of agronomy and cropping systems specialist for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach

• David Kruse, chairman of Commstock Investments and author of The Commstock Report

During the show, a shed will be raffled off to raise money for Backpack Buddies, That is a program that provides food to qualifying school children so that they will have something nutritious to eat over the weekends.

Taking in all the sights and activities at the show will surely work up a person’s appetite. There will be food available to satisfy that appetite. The Webster County Pork Producers will cook lunch on Dec. 16. The free pancake breakfast will be from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Dec. 17. The Webster County Beef Producers will cook lunch on Dec.17.

We encourage everyone with an interest in agriculture to attend the show. It offers a great opportunity to learn and have fun at the same time.
