Wants solar subsidies to end

By Staff | Feb 28, 2025

To the editor:

TED Renewables, ITOCHU, or whatever, are scrambling to carpet the land with 900 acres of Chinese plastic. Elon Musk and DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) couldn’t possibly find something efficient in covering one of God’s greatest gifts (the most productive soil in the world) with an energy source that needs government subsidies to exist.

People straddling the fence (if, in this intentionally polarized climate there are any) are finding that so much federal spending is silly and wasteful; maybe we will be saved from such boondoggles. Hopefully, DOGE will derail the solar panel subsidies, along with such nonsense as $3 million for “girl-centered climate action” in Brazil, ethanol mandates, CO2 pipelines, and federal crop insurance. If a free market doesn’t demand it, it’s failed the test to exist.

Nine hundred acres of solar panels on farmland exemplify the massive amounts of capital diverted from useful purposes. That cash, when back in the hands of people who know how to make it work constructively, will make this a better world.
